Course Description:

It used to be that students were taught basic financial education in high school. However, this has gone by the wayside in recent years. With many companies eliminating and freezing pensions and moving towards individually-funded retirement plans, it is more important than ever for one to take charge of their personal financial future. By attending this course, you will be able to lay the groundwork for your personal financial plan. Whether your goal is to retire soon, or many years down the road, you will be able to create your own personal retirement plan.

Who Should Attend:

This course is geared towards people age 50 years and older. However, people under 50 will also benefit from learning the principles of retirement distribution planning. It is never too early to begin planning your retirement and protecting your financial future.

John is a Principal and Managing Director at Robertson Stephens’ San Ramon and Burlingame offices in the San Francisco Bay Area. John and his team specialize in retirement distribution planning, serving clients in or near retirement. John’s team uses a total-solution approach to planning, including income tax reduction, estate conservation, portfolio management, and retirement distribution planning.

John is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) professional. He received his B.Sc., (Accounting) from California State University, Fresno, and Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University. John is a firm believer in financial literacy. He was a co-chair of the California Society of CPA’s Financial Literacy Committee. He also founded Financial Aptitude Training (FiAT™), a Sec. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization teaching financial literacy to adults and teens in underserved communities.
